Well it was bound to happen. Politico has started off this week’s news cycle with a huge story that alleges Herman Cain was accused of sexual harassment by two female co-workers during his time with the National Restaurant Association in the 1990’s. While the facts are unclear and this story is sure to get bigger as the week goes on, a couple of things are clear. First, that these two women had to sign non-disclosure documents about their charges and were both given hefty financial packages to leave their positions at the association. Second, the Cain camp isn’t denying the allegations at all, nor attacking the women (as of right now unnamed) in question.
Cain is in the big leagues now, and this hit might be what really determines what kind of staff he’s got working for him. If played properly this story can last the week and be forgotten; if played poorly he’ll be another tragic case of an unprepared candidate who gets knocked out, allowing Mitt Romney to skate to his coronation. Stayed tuned, this story isn’t going anywhere.
