Nicolas, Barack – are we going to have to separate you two again?
It seems like every time President Obama and French President Nicolas Sarkozy get together they’re causing trouble. Doesn’t Obama know that American presidents are supposed to hate the French? But every time these two get together they’re sniggling and giggling in the back of the summit meetings, dapping each other up, and cheating on Michelle’s diet by grubbing fast food at Ben’s Chili Bowl.
And you know it’s totally Sarkozy who’s the bad influence, the Reggie Mantle to Obama’s Archie Andrews.
A couple of years ago when Sarkozy got distracted by a young lady with quite the ane (that’s French for “Donkey”) it was Obama who got in trouble with the American press. Of course now Sarkozy has gotten Obama in trouble again for whispering in the back of the classroom.
Apparently, the G-8 economic summit reporters overheard Sarkozy telling Obama that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was a liar, difficult to deal with and that he had cooties. Obama cosigned complaining that he had to deal with the Israeli Prime Minister much more often.
As much as the foreign press would like to play this up, this little exchange will not hurt Obama at home, and it certainly isn’t any more embarrassing than George Bush’s aborted back-rub of German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the G-8 summit a few years ago.
However, Obama should learn his lesson about gossiping with Sarkozy: they’re totally Frenemies. Sarkozy is notorious for talking about other world leaders behind their backs. And wasn’t it just a year ago that the French President was telling everyone that Obama was INSANE and didn’t listen to anyone? Maybe Barack needs to find some new kids to sit with at the G-8 cafeteria.
