Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has survived an attempt to boot him out of office. Tuesday’s recall vote was prompted by a bill he signed in March 2011 that strips collective bargaining rights from public sector employees.
Some political pundits have suggested that the victory against Milwaukee’s Democratic Mayor Tom Barrett means Republicans could take Wisconsin in November.
But Jason Johnson from Politic365 had a different perspective on HLN’s Morning Express with Robin Meade. He says, if anything, the Wisconsin recall vote should tell the GOP to change their strategy for the general election.
“You can’t win an election by having people vote against the other guy. No one was voting for Tom Barrett. They were voting against Scott Walker. You can’t win an election that way,” Johnson says. “That’s what Mitt Romney’s trying to do. He wants the election to be a referendum on Obama, not a choice between the two of them.”
