Just about everyone is going crazy a week before the election looking at polls. Which polls should you trust, what polls are skewed, are polls being manipulated to favor one candidate or another and a dozen other questions have been filling message boards and talks shows for weeks. Well I’m here to provide some information that will trump all pre-election polls and give you something to think about when you’re out partying or trick or treating tonight: Halloween is predicting a Barack Obama victory.
Spirit Halloween, the largest retailer of Halloween gear in America with over 1,000 stores has run a little experiment over the last few election cycles. They have kept a running tally of which candidate’s masks sell more right before an election, and lo and behold, that candidate usually wins. Lisa Barr the spokesperson for Spirit Halloween says that the candidate who’s mask sells the most by Halloween has correctly predicted the eventual winner of the election in every campaign since 1996. Right now, Barack Obama masks are outselling Mitt Romney masks about 60 to 40%.
So be of good cheer nervous Democrats, all Hallows eve seems to predict your guy getting to keep his job at Pennsylvania Avenue. Personally I think this is a pretty safe prediction, unless we find out at the last minute that the Koch Brothers buy up thousands of Romney masks just to throw off the numbers.
