I have a very dear friend who is in her second deployment to the Middle East, and I’ve made it a point to send her care packages from time to time. The top things that folks tend to want over there are 1.) Food 2.) Hair products (she’s a sista) and 3.) mindless diversions like DVD’s magazines and comic books. I once sent her a copy of Mischa Wolff’s “I’m Down” and she facebooked me to stop sending all that deep stuff and send her more copies of the Source . So I’m not surprised about this picture from Tumblr that’s been making its way around the political web featuring a bonfire of Bill O’Reilly’s vanity. Apparently some right winger had the very wrong idea about what to put in a care package to soldiers bored out of their minds in a hot as hell war zone in Afghanistan or Iraq. I can think of precious few things that would be less welcome to a group of 20 something U.S. soldiers in the middle east than two boxes of the LoofahMan’s latest book “Pinheads and Patriots.” The best part is that the burning of the books was ordered by the commanding officer.
