Yet public demands for transparency are very much dependent on past experience, says Jason Johnson, a professor of political science and communications at Hiram College. Nobody would care much about the Democrats’ private meeting had it not come on the heels of the corruption scandal, he said.
“The degree to which the public cares about how the sausage is made depends on how the last batch tasted,” he said.
