Hiram College professor Jason Johnson was quoted in the Wall Street Journal article “Firefighters in Ohio battle labor-curbs bill” about the upcoming Ohio referendum to repeal S.B. 5, curtailing collective bargaining rights for public employee unions.
Jason Johnson, a professor of political science at Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio, said turnout among conservatives, who generally back the law, could be helped by another issue on the ballot, an amendment to exempt the state from federal requirements compelling residents to purchase health insurance.
“You’ve got a couple of issues on the ballot that produce really high emotions,” Mr. Johnson said.
