In the article, Johnson describes:
- a foiled assassination attempt against Mayor Cory Booker by the New Jersey Bloods
- Booker’s efforts to cut crime by 36 percent during his first term, and
- the $100 million pledge Booker secured from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg for Newark public schools
Mayor Booker tells Johnson: “I think my policy can be like sampling. A good sample takes some of the old, mixes it with the new, and creates a new sound. That’s what I like to do with policy: take some of the older ideas, some of my own innovations, and try to improve the city.”
